China Destined to Lead World in Electric Transportation

One would think that America would be the first to commercialize alternative energy transportation - led by Al Gore, we've been yapping about Global Warming forever.

While American politicians and media TALK about the environmental problems, Chinese engineers CREATE solutions. Perhaps having so many people educated in math, physics, chemistry biology, etc - they just can't help themselves but to fix the problem.

First it was the all electric car by BYD, on the market in 2009 years ahead of General Motors, Ford or Chrysler. Shown below -  the e6.

And now a Chinese company has delivered an all electric airplane. They are not the first to build one - the French did that back in 2007. Nor is their aircraft the fastest electric plane - the Italians hold that honor.

All the Chinese have done is build the first commercial electric airplane - the yuneec 340. Yep, its going into production and will be a new product - designed engineered, manufactured in China - to be sold worldwide.

For a Communist country, they seem to have caught on to this modern idea of making a product, commercializing it and creating jobs and wealth. Something the French and Italians forgot decades ago and an idea rapidly losing favor in America.

India Worries About China's Organized R&D Thrust

"China has a policy in place for R&D; we don't," Natampally said, adding that India could move up the value chain faster if even a small percentage of its engineering graduates went into research.

The small numbers of PhDs and the lack of government incentives for India's fledgling R&D sector are blunting the country's edge, analysts warn.

Rival China has already pulled ahead with more than 1,100 R&D centres compared to less than 800 in India, despite lingering concerns about rule of law and intellectual property rights."

"India produces about 300,000 computer science graduates a year. Yet it produces only about 100 computer science PhDs, a small fraction of the 1,500-2,000 that get awarded in the United States, or China, every year." [Note: ~ 60% of the U.S. PhD's granted go to foreign nationals, not U.S. citizens]
